TURNITIN INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS

In keeping with Tumaini University Makumira’s Regulations and Guidelines for Postgraduate Research Papers, dissertations and theses (Reg 1.4), and with TUMA Research Manual & Tools that provides research guidelines for undergraduate and postgraduate students (P. 1 & 5), Tumaini University Makumira strives to promote the quality of students’ work by subjecting it to a plagiarism checking procedure using Turnitin as one among other quality assurance initiatives. Turnitin is a web-based mechanism designed to match the author’s text to other texts that can be accessed by the software such as e-journals, databases of published or unpublished papers, and other texts on the internet. It is therefore imperative that students’ work such as research papers, dissertations, and theses is checked for plagiarism using Turnitin.
