The Rationale of the Programme
African nations are developing fast in many sectors, one of them being that of law. As the societal structures grow all the time more and more sophisticated and complicated, even the legal systems have to follow the situation. Globalisation of economy and administration both speed up the process. As a result, the demand of competent lawyers is increasing rapidly as legal expertise is no longer needed only in courts and police forces, where the demand is growing as well, but also in NGOs, governmental agencies, international agencies and private companies etc. At present, the tertiary education system in Tanzania lags severely behind in producing the needed number of lawyers. This programme will cater especially people already involved in the field who cannot leave their work or families behind to go to study either abroad or Dar es Salaam or Iringa. MUCo faculty of law will be a partial solution to the lack of qualified lawyers in general and the need of addressing the popular demand in Makumira proximity
